Kathmandu- Every Tuesday Lord Shri Ganesh is worshiped. So many things are offered to Lord Ganesha in worship but Dubo has special importance. His worship is not complete without water.

Tulsi is considered a form of Vishnu. But Ganesha finds Tulsi unpleasant. The use of Tulsi is prohibited in Ganesh Pooja.A story is found in connection with Dubo. According to the story, in ancient times there was a demon named Anlasura. He had spread terror on earth and heaven. Analasur would swallow sages and common people alive.

Troubled by Asura, Devraj Indra and all the gods and goddesses and the chief sage went to pray to Lord Mahadev. They requested Mahadev to end Anlasura, but Mahadev said that Ganesha will end Asura.

Ganesha went to fight with Anlasura. Asura tried to swallow him but instead Ganesha swallowed the asura. After swallowing the Asura, Ganesha had a terrible stomach ache. Various measures were taken and the stomach irritation did not subside.

Then sage Kashyapa made a lump of 21 muntos of dubo and gave it to Ganesha. Ganesha’s pain was alleviated after drinking the water. Since then, the tradition of bathing Lord Ganesha has started.

There is also a story about why tulsi should not be offered to Ganesha.

According to the story, in ancient times, Tulsi prayed to Ganeshji for marriage. But Ganesha did not agree. Enraged, Tulsi cursed Ganesha to have two marriages. Even Ganesha got angry and cursed you to be married to an asura.

After hearing the curse of marrying a demon, Tulsi apologized to Ganesha. Then Ganeshaji said that you will be married to Shankhachurna but you will be loved by Lord Vishnu and will give salvation to people in Kali Yuga but it is inauspicious to offer you while worshiping me.
