who is Sherry Shieh?

Among many notable achievements, award-winning pianist composer Sherry Shieh was presented to Prince Philip of England for outstanding music achievement at the age of 12. Shieh performed at Academy Award-winning actress Audrey Hepburn’s memorial service in 1993 and has worked under Academy Award-winning composer Luis Bacalov (Il Postino, Kill Bill). To date, Shieh has won 2 major nominations from Taiwan Grammy’s Award (GMA) and released 6 albums. Shieh was named Permanent Artist by major music licensing platform AudioSparx in 2015.

Sherry Shieh, During her years at Indiana University, Sherry studied with the eminent pedagogues Jean Louis Haguenauer and Vladimir Viardo. As the youngest Ph. D. student of the legendary pianist Anthony di Bonaventura, Sherry has performed extensively around the world. In 2007, her ballet GATE toured in Taiwan and was awarded “Best Group of the Year”. Shieh has collaborated with the award-winning Taiwanese Rock band The Chairman and appeared as guest performer at Marvin Hamlisch International Music Awards. In 2011, Sherry dedicated Joyful Heart to victims of 311 Japanese Tsunami, drawing invitation from Jinmen Government to commission her to write and premier her work for 5000+ people.

As a passionate educator of music and film, Shieh holds regular seminar-concerts at universities and corporations, and frequently collaborates with international brands. As a critique, Shieh served as a contributor in MUZIK magazine from 2006 to 2012, the world’s biggest classical music publication in Chinese-speaking regions. Audiences and readers often praised Shieh for her “down-to-earth, witty yet deeply knowledgeable” speaking and writing style.

In 2016, Shieh produced her first documentary《Book House》which was awarded in Malaysia film festival KKIFF. She founded iii Films and Six Trees Pictures to tell ‘inspiring’, ‘innovative’ and ‘influential’ stories in 2015 and 2017 respectively.
