Most of the games of the 33rd Olympics will be held in the city of Paris. Some matches will also be played in neighboring cities such as Saint Denis, Le Bourget, Nanterre, Versailles. This time, Russia and Belarus will not participate in the Olympics.
There will be a scramble for 329 gold medals at the Paris Olympics. Among them, most gold medals have been reserved for aquatics (water sports including swimming). A total of 49 medals have been awarded for the Aquatics Games. In this list, 48 gold medals have been allocated for athletics, which is on the second place.
This time, a new sport has also been included in the Olympics. Breaking dashing was included in the Paris Olympics for the first time. Karate and baseball are not included in the Olympics this time. Earlier, both these games were included in the Tokyo Olympics.
This time, the iron of the world-famous Eiffel Tower has also been used in every Olympic medal. The gold medal weighs 529 grams, the silver medal weighs 525 grams and the bronze medal weighs 455 grams. The opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics is also said to be special.
It is said that the opening ceremony of this Olympics will be held on the Seri River. During the opening ceremony, thousands of athletes and sports officials will cross the river by boat and move towards the Eiffel Tower. In the earlier editions, the opening ceremony was held at the stadium.
Paris, the capital city of France, has become the second city in the world to host the Olympic Games three times. The Olympics were previously held in Paris in 1900 and 1924. The Olympics were held in London in 1908, 1948 and 2012.
A funny coincidence of the city of Paris is also connected with the Olympic Games. When the Olympic Games were held in Paris in 1900, female athletes also participated for the first time. Before that, women athletes did not get the opportunity to participate in the Olympics.
Similarly, exactly one hundred years before the 33rd edition of the Olympic Games was held in Paris, the Olympic Games were held in Paris. The 1924 Olympic Games were held in Paris.
Two games have already started before the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics. The football and rugby competitions will start on July 24. Since the competition of these two games will last for a long time, they have started playing before the opening ceremony.
45,000 volunteers will be assigned to the Paris Olympics. Volunteers will be present at every venue of the Paris Olympics. 35 venues have been determined for the Paris Olympics. 24 of them are around 10 kilometers from the Olympic Village in Paris.
Likewise, the IOC has allowed Afghan athletes to participate in the Paris Olympics, but has formally banned Taliban officials from participating in the Olympics.
The IOC has also banned the use of the Taliban flag in the Olympics. In addition, five refugee athletes from Afghanistan will also participate in the Paris Olympics. However, these refugees will play the Olympics under the flag of the IOC.
In particular, these refugees left the country because of the recent political situation in Afghanistan. They applied to the IOC to play the Olympics. After that, the IOC accepted their demands and created an environment to play the Olympics.
Nepal in Paris Olympics
Nepal is participating its athletes in 6 different sports in the Paris Olympics. Seven athletes from Nepal will participate in the 33rd Summer Olympics. The last round of the South Asian qualifying competition for the Paris Olympics was held in Nepal. Santu, who proved his excellence in the selection tournament of table tennis organized for the first time in Nepal, has secured a place in the Paris Olympics.
In the men’s singles section of the qualifying tournament held in Kathmandu last May, Santu defeated Sanyog Kapali of his own country and made it to the Olympics. Santu defeated Sri Lanka’s Chamira Ginige and coincidentally Sri Lanka’s Jayasanka de Silva to reach the finals of the qualifiers.
In the competitive final, Santu defeated Sanyog by 4-3 sets. He has also become the first Nepali table tennis player to participate in Santuolympic Games. Santu also won a gold medal in the 9th National Sports Competition held in Pokhara.
