Messi named BBC World Sports Star of the Year
Football World Cup winner Argentina captain Lionel Messi has been declared the BBC Sports Personality’s World Sports Star of the Year for 2022. 35-year-old Messi won the World Cup in Qatar after 36 years for Argentina. He was also given the Golden Ball Award. Argentina’s match against France on Sunday was Messi’s 26th World Cup match. He also broke the record of most appearances in the World Cup held by German player Lothar Mathias.
Messi is the top scorer for Argentina in the World Cup.
