Is there no loss in the digital release of the film?

With the halls closed for a long time due to lockdowns, Bollywood filmmakers have been attracted to digital platforms. The movie of a well-known artist in Bollywood is being released on digital platforms.
Manufacturers are also attracted because there are no losses on digital platforms. But aren’t the manufacturers losing millions of rupees when choosing this platform?
The movie ‘Gulabo Sitabo’ earned around Rs 300 million from digital platforms. The film, which was made at Rs 300 million, was bought by Amazon for Rs 600 million. Sony Entertainment has given Rs 200 million as satellite rights to the film. This means that the film has made a profit of around Rs 500 million.
Had it been released in theaters, the film would have been released in 65 countries around the world. But when it was released digitally, viewers from more than 200 countries were able to watch the film. Another film ‘Gunjan Saxena’ has also earned Rs 400 million, according to Indian media.
But while saying this, Bollywood actors should not forget the power of box office. Because the movie ‘Uri’ made at Rs 300 million earned Rs 250 million while ‘Kabir Singh’ made at Rs 600 million earned Rs 250 million.
That’s why if the audience likes the movie, the producer can earn more crores from the hall than on the digital platform. Earnings from digital platforms are based on subscriptions. Therefore, paid viewers on these platforms do not necessarily watch new movies in Bollywood.
