Defeat UAE and play Nepal, India and Pakistan in Asia Cup

Kathmandu | Nepal won the ACC Premier Cup by defeating UAE by 7 wickets. Along with this, Nepal has also qualified for the Asia Cup.

Nepal achieved the target of 118 runs taken by UEA by losing only 3 wickets in 30.3 overs. Gulshan Jha scored an unbeaten 67 runs for Nepal while Bhim Sarki remained not out on 36 runs.

 

After losing the toss and being invited to bat on Sunday, UAE made 106/9 in 27.3 overs and the match was stopped by rain. UAE, who started playing from there on Monday, added 11 more runs and lost the rest of the wickets.

Chasing a modest target of 118 runs, Nepal’s start was not good. In the first ball of the second over, opener Kushal Bhurtel was dismissed for a single run, while Nepal’s score was only one. Gulshan Jha went to bat at number three. Asif Sheikh (8), who shared an 18-run partnership with him, was dismissed in the first ball of the seventh over.

Nepal was under some pressure when captain Rohit Kumar Podel was out along with Gulshan Jha and Bhim Sarki. But Gulshan along with Bhim Sarki conquered Nepal. Both shared an unbeaten 96 run partnership for the fourth wicket. Gulshan, who faced 84 balls, hit three fours and six sixes. Bhima, who scored 36 runs off 72 balls, also hit four fours.

Nepal has been placed in Group A in the Asia Cup. India and Pakistan are in this group.
