List of 50 action movies of all time released, ‘Mad Max: Road Warrior’ tops

If you are interested in action genre movies, there may be new news. The prestigious Variety magazine has published a list of 50 action films of all time, which can be on your ‘watch list’.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Lee movies must be included in this list. Most of the action films included in the list are dominated by the martial arts genre. The audience may like the classic action of Shaw Brothers, but martial arts has evolved so much that the audience thinks of it as soon as they say action film.

At the top of the list is ‘Mad Max‘, released in 1979 and directed by George Miller. It was made on a drive-in movie budget but became such a global phenomenon that Miller was able to make the series bigger, more terrifying, more grandiose. Its sequel ‘The Road Survival’ is another hit film.

The second place is Bruce Willis starrer ‘Die Hard’ which was released in 1988. Alfred Hitchcock’s classic thriller film ‘North by Northwest’ is in third place. The joint film of Steven Spielberg and George Lucas “Raiders of the Last Ark” is in fourth place. In the fifth place is the martial arts star Bruce Lee’s ‘Enter the Dragon’.

Sixth is the Gene Hackman starrer ‘The French Connection’ released in 1971. The seventh is ‘The Matrix’, a cyberpunk-video game genre released in 1999. The eighth place is ‘Aliens’ which was released in 1986. The ninth place is ‘Seven Samurai’ and the tenth place is ‘Bullit‘.

Arnold Schwarzenegger starrer ‘Terminator: Judgment Day’ is in 17th place, while Ang Lee’s ‘Crouching Tiger: Hidden Dragon’ is in 20th place. Jacqueen Phoenix and Russell Crowe’s ‘Gladiator’ is at number 23, while Jackie Chang’s ‘Police Story’ is at number 27.

Mad Max Fury Road is on the 28th place, Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol is on the 30th. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ‘Commando’, Vin Diesel’s ‘Fast Five’, Daniel Craig’s ‘Casino Royale’, Leonardo DiCaprio starrer ‘Inception’, Tom Cruise’s ‘Topgun: Maverick’.
